Enabling Education For All

The Axiata Foundation All-Star Bestari Scholarship empowers high-potential students from underprivileged backgrounds and marginalised communities to pursue and complete their studies, enabling them to fulfil their greatest potential. 

 

The programme is offered at pre-university levels, providing scholarship recipients with financial support to cover their education and living expenses. The programme also nurtures their development beyond academics through structured interventions for holistic personal and professional growth. 

About the programme

Axiata Foundation invites high-potential students from underprivileged and marginalised communities backgrounds who have demonstrated excellence in their academics and beyond to apply for the All-Star Bestari Scholarship. 

 

Through the scholarship, they will be supported to pursue their pre-university education at local public institutions. 

What does the scholarship programme cover?
  • A full scholarship for the duration of pre-university studies in a local public institution 
  • The scholarship covers tuition fees, living and other related allowances 
  • Structured development interventions are provided to accelerate personal, academic and professional development 
What courses and institutions are covered?

All foundation and matriculation courses that are offered by local public institutions* 

 

*Maximum of 1 year 

How many scholars will be selected each year?

There are a fixed number of scholarships provided every year. 

Who can apply?

This programme is only open to students who fulfil these four criteria: 

  • Malaysian citizens 
  • Aged 19 and below 
  • From families with a monthly combined household income of RM4,850 and below 
  • Have a minimum of 6As* in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
    *Includes grades of A+, A, or A- for any subjects. 

 

Terms & conditions: 

1) This selection criteria only applies to the year 2025. 

 

2) This scholarship is not applicable to employees (including family members) of Axiata Group Berhad or any of its subsidiaries and key associates. 

 

3) Subsidiaries include Axiata Digital Labs, ADA, Boost Holdings, EDOTCO, XL Axiata, Dialog, Robi, Smart, Ncell, and key associates include CelcomDigi 

What are the stages in the application process?

1. Online Application

Submit your applications through the Axiata Foundation's website. Your application will then be screened by the Scholarship Programme team. 

2. Online Assessment

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will be invited to complete a series of online assessments. These aim to measure aptitude and attitude, and entail verbal and numerical reasoning as well as personal and moral reasoning.

**Online assessments will take place on a rolling basis. 

3. Final Interview and Conditional Offer

Individual interviews will be conducted, following which conditional offers will be sent out within 30 working days.

4. Offer Confirmation

Your conditional offer will be confirmed upon your fulfilment of the academic requirements and your admissions to eligible educational institutions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How many intakes of the Scholarship Programme are there per year?

The programme has only one intake per year. 

What is the duration of the Scholarship Programme's coverage?

The coverage of the scholarship is for the entirety of the educational course under the scholarship - for example, a maximum of one year for pre-university courses. 

What is included in the Scholarship Programme?

The programme includes financial aid to cover tuition fees, living and other related scholarship allowances, as well as structured interventions for personal, academic and professional development. 

What courses and institutions are accepted under the Scholarship Programme?

Only foundation and matriculation offered by local public institutions are accepted. 

Is there any cost to be borne by the recipient?

No, you will not have to pay any fees during your scholarship period. 

Will there be a legally binding contract between Axiata Foundation and the recipient?

Yes, you will be required to sign a contract and a Waiver of Liability with our governing entity, Axiata Foundation. The contract is to ensure that you attend the programme in full and adhere to all other codes of conduct set by Axiata Foundation throughout the duration of your scholarship. 

Will I be bonded to Axiata Group Berhad or Axiata Foundation after graduating from the programme?

You will not be required to serve a scholarship bond at any of Axiata’s companies upon completion of your scholarship. However, you will be invited to join the Alumni Association. 

Who is eligible to apply?

Applications are open to high-potential Malaysian students from underprivileged backgrounds (e.g. B40) and marginalised communities (e.g. indigenous tribes, Persons with Disabilities and orphans) who are seeking to enrol in Pre-university courses in Malaysia. 

How do I apply for the Axiata Foundation All-Star Bestari Scholarship?

Applications are to be completed online through the Axiata Foundation website. Please note that manual submissions will not be accepted.

Can I edit my Online Application once I have submitted it?

It is not advisable for you to request to edit your application once submitted. As such, please confirm that all information provided is accurate and complete before submitting your application. 

Can I retake the Online Assessment

To protect the validity and integrity of the assessment data, retakes within a 6-month duration will not be allowed. Please be honest and do your best when completing the Online Assessment. 

When will shortlisted applicants be notified?

Our shortlisting process is done on a rolling basis for each of the four stages.
