Kamal Nawawi is the Chief Executive Officer of Axiata Foundation, where he leads the Foundation’s initiatives across three key pillars: Education, Community Investments, and Environment, in line with Axiata Group’s ESG commitments. He also oversees the management of Axiata Group’s RM115 million, 10-year pledge to the Foundation.
Until January 2024, Kamal also served as Head of Axiata FastForward, Axiata’s corporate learning and development platform focused on equipping employees with critical digital-era skills. Under his leadership, the platform launched five academies within eight months in 2021, followed by an expansion to three additional academies in 2022, addressing the developmental needs of various business functions across the Group.
With over 30 years of experience across the corporate and education sectors, Kamal has held senior positions including Vice Chancellor of UNITAR International University, CEO of the Cosmopoint Group of Companies, and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU). He has also served in leadership roles at Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Maxis Communications Bhd.
