Enabling Education For All

The Axiata Foundation All-Star Bestari Scholarship empowers high-potential students from underprivileged backgrounds and marginalised communities to pursue and complete their studies, enabling them to fulfil their greatest potential.

In recognition of the various barriers that exist in ensuring equitable education for all, the programme is offered at both pre-university and university levels, providing scholarship recipients with financial support to cover their education and living expenses. The programme also nurtures their development beyond academics through structured interventions for holistic personal and professional growth.

Applications are now open for both pre-university and undergraduate levels.

All foundation, matriculation and diploma courses that are offered by local public institutions*

  • Malaysian citizens
  • Aged 21 and below
  • From families with a monthly combined household income of RM4,850 and below
  • Have a minimum of 6As* in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent courses

  • The bursary covers tuition fees, living and other related allowances

  • The opportunity to pursue their undergraduate studies as a bursary award recipient upon meeting the conditional requirements

How many scholars will be selected each year?

There are a fixed number of scholarships provided every year, with a special quota reserved for bursary award recipients.

What are the stages in the application process?

Online Application

Submit your application through the Axiata Foundation website. Your application will then be screened by the Axiata Foundation team.

Online Assessment

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will be invited to complete a series of online assessments. These aim to measure aptitude and attitude, which entails verbal and numerical reasoning as well as personal and moral reasoning.

Assessment Center

If you pass the online assessments, you will be invited to visit an assessment center where your leadership qualities – such as emotional intelligence, collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking – will be observed and evaluated.

Final Interview and Conditional Offer

Individual interviews will be conducted, following which conditional offers will be sent out within 30 working days.

Offer Confirmation

Your conditional offer will be confirmed upon your fulfilment of the academic requirements and your admission to an eligible educational institutions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This FAQ applies for both pre-university and undergraduates applicants for the All-Star Bestari Scholarship Programme and the Bursary Award For Marginalised Communities.

The All-Star Bestari Scholarship is a full scholarship awarded to high-potential students from underprivileged backgrounds who have demonstrated excellence in their academics and beyond.

The Bursary Award is a form of financial aid reserved for students from marginalised communities (e.g. indigenous tribes, Persons with Disabilities and orphans) who may wish to pursue other types of tertiary education, such as arts programmes, sports programmes or courses offered by religious or vocational schools.

The programme has only one intake per year.

The coverage of the scholarship is for the entirety of the educational course under the scholarship or bursary award - for example, a maximum of two years for pre-university courses or a maximum of four years for undergraduate courses.

The programme includes financial aid to cover tuition fees, living and other related scholarship allowances, as well as structured interventions for personal, academic and professional development.

For All-Star Bestari Scholarship applicants, only foundation, matriculation, diploma or Bachelor degree courses offered by local public institutions are accepted.

For Bursary Award recipients, any programme approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) in recognised Malaysian higher education institutions are accepted. However, this is determined on a case-to-case basis.

The scholarship will only cover tuition fees, living and other related expenses.

Yes, you will be required to sign a contract and a Waiver of Liability with our governing entity, Axiata Foundation. The contract is to ensure that you attend the programme in full and adhere to all other codes of conduct set by Axiata Foundation throughout the duration of your scholarship.

You will not be required to serve a scholarship bond at any of Axiata’s companies upon completion of your scholarship. However, you will be invited to join the Alumni Association.

Applications are open to high-potential Malaysian students from underprivileged backgrounds (e.g. B40) and marginalised communities (e.g. indigenous tribes, Persons with Disabilities and orphans) who are seeking to enrol in:

  • Pre-university courses in Malaysia
  • Undergraduate courses in Malaysia

To protect the validity and integrity of the assessment data, retakes within a 9-month duration will not be allowed. Please be honest and do your best when completing the Online Assessment.

Assessments Centers (Stage 3) will take place either physically or virtually. Invited candidates will be informed ahead of time and will need to plan accordingly.
